From the Kitchen of The Pearl of Seneca Lake B & B
This recipe came from Allrecipes.com. Pears can easily be my favorite fruit, especially in the fall when pears are so plentiful in our area. They are also available in the supermarkets. This pear cobbler can be served anytime – at breakfast or for a dessert. Adding whipped cream or ice cream on top of the cobbler makes this breakfast fruit delectable.
Pear Cobbler Recipe
Preheat the oven to 400 deg. Butter 6 individual baking dishes or a small oven proof dish.
Use 3-4 medium pears (about 1 ½ lb), cored, peeled and cut into eights.
Add 2 tbsp lemon juice to a bowl with water. Add pears to the lemon water to keep them from browning.
¼ cup milk
1 cup flour
¾ tsp baking powder
2 tbsp white sugar
2 tbsp brown sugar
Using a fork or pastry cutter, cut into flour:
3 tbsp cold butter
Drain pears and sprinkle with:
2 tbsp corn starch
¼ cup white sugar
Combine egg-milk mixture into flour mixture. Add pears to prepared baking dish. Drop batter by spoonful onto the pears.
Bake at 400 deg for 25 min. Cool for 10 min before serving.
