Staying Safe in Troubled Times

We are so aware of the Coronavirus and how it is affecting everyone.   We have been in a self-induced lock down, limiting our visits to the grocery store and the post office.   At this time Yates County has had no known cases of COVID-19.   Unfortunately, that number will almost certainly be changing.

We have been closed since December 2019, and have had no guests during that time, and only family at Christmastime.   This means that our home has not been exposed to the virus.   We are watching the recommendations of the medical experts, and hope to reopen May 1.   Historically we have been so proud of the cleanliness of our home, and now we are so aware that we have to be even cleaner.   All surfaces will be wiped down with a disinfectant daily and thoroughly cleaned between guests.

One of the benefits of going to a B&B is the breakfast.   If guests feel the need to maintain distance, breakfast can easily be eaten in the bed rooms.   Weather permitting, breakfast can also be eaten outside on the picnic table or on the chairs on the deck.   We will gladly work with our guests, ensuring that they feel comfortable.

I have been using this time to try new recipes and perfect my skills with sourdough.   I have been making many different kinds of sourdough breads – some very good and a few that are so crusty that they are almost impossible to slice.   We might have found the one recipe that we particularly like and the one that I will serve to our guests.   When I perfect my skills and am confident in our choice, I’ll be sharing this recipe on our website.   Be sure to check out our Food & Recipes page on The Pearl of Seneca Lake website.   The recipes that have passed our taste tests are posted. I would also appreciate any good breakfast recipes that you would like to share with me.   It would be great receiving a few of your favorite recipes.

Be sure to take care of yourself and stay healthy.   Hopefully, you will be able to fill your days with productive activities and plans for the future.   We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully getting to see you soon.   Our cancellation policy has always been flexible, and please know that we will respect your decision if you need to cancel.   Sending you lots of love and blessings.

  1. I always enjoy reading your blogs, Mary.
We look forward to seeing you and Peter soon.
We don’t want to forget to tell you and Peter that we had an eagle over our house on Monday (the day before our 26th wedding anniversary.) He (or she) was soaring in the sky with about 9 Turkey Vultures. They were taking advantage of the thermals. It was a beautiful, precious sight for us to share.
We hope your days are filled with beautiful, precious sights, sounds, and scents of nature every day until we see you soon at The Pearl…
