After closing for the winter months, we are now open for our 15th season. We look forward to receiving our returning guests and welcoming new guests. We love hearing about the changes in their lives, how their children have grown, and about their new homes and jobs. When we welcome new guests, our goal is to help them feel comfortable in our home and at the Pearl of Seneca Lake Bed and Breakfast. We strive to “read the needs” of all our guests, and to fulfill those needs.
All our guests are respectful to each other and to our facility. We so appreciate when something gets spilled or broken, they quickly clean it up. We are delighted that they treat our house as they would their own.
Experience has shown us that our guests’ needs will be varied. We will interact with some of our guests only at breakfast time and others we will see throughout the day. Some will choose to stay at “The Pearl” for an Anniversary, a Birthday, a Honeymoon or much needed time to recharge and be free from responsibility.
One of my pleasures is to provide the breakfasts for our guests. We encourage everyone to let us know of any allergies and dietary preferences prior to their arrival. It is so much easier for us to accommodate gluten-free, vegetarian and dairy-free diets when we are informed ahead of time. That is not always done and so we can easily provide guests with a simple egg or even oatmeal. No one wants to be sick or not feeling their best when on vacation.
Some people often come alone. Couples will come by themselves, or with friends, parents or their adult children. It is very common for a group to take all the rooms, and gather in the evening in our common living room or outside by the fire. They will go to wineries, breweries, distilleries, cheese stores, or enjoy the races and driving classes at Watkins Glen International Race Track. They will enjoy Seneca Lake at the Pearl by swimming or using our canoe and/or row boat. They will rent kayaks or motor boats, or take a ride on the True Love Schooner or even charter a fishing boat.
We always enjoy watching our guests just sitting by the lake with a book and a glass of wine. They will munch on local cheeses, or start a fire and cook hot dogs, steak and s’mores. Usually on one night they will have a fancy meal at one of the local restaurants, and another night enjoy the “local” hangouts.
Others enjoy going for a walk on our nature trail or down Red Cedar Lane. Walking the Watkins Glen State Park Gorge Trail is always a must. And the adventurists walk parts of the 1,000-acre National Forest on the other side of Seneca Lake, the Catherine Trail between Watkins Glen and Montour Falls, and the Keuka Outlet Trail that joins Keuka and Seneca Lakes near Dresden. Our garage is often used for Motorcycles and Bicycles. It is always a work-out for the guests who ride their bikes around Seneca and Keuka Lakes. They are is such good shape!!
We strive to be available for our guests when they need us and at the same time provide them with the privacy they desire. It is an honor that they choose to stay with us and that we become part of their lives. It fills us with such gratitude!
