What First-Timers Can Expect at The Pearl of Seneca Lake

Recently I heard some concerns from people who have never stayed in a bed and breakfast before.   I can certainly understand, since we had shared the same feelings before staying in our first B & B.   I think I can honestly say that as innkeepers, we all strive to make our guests feel at ease and at home.   It’s easy to speak of the culture that we maintain at The Pearl of Seneca Lake.

We welcome you as friends with our goal of achieving a balance of guidance and privacy.   We have our own private innkeepers’ area, which frees up the common living area for our guests.   Our guests have gathered by the gas fireplace to laugh and talk and watch TV. They also play cards and board games on the kitchen and living room tables.

Upon arrival, you will usually be greeted by Peter, who will show you around the kitchen area as well as the common living room.   He will explain how our Flavia individual-cup coffee pot works, and show you our bottomless cookie jar.   We hope you will feel free to help yourself to the coffee and cookies any time, day or night.   You can come for breakfast any time between 8:30 and 10:00.   It is best if you inform us of any dietary restrictions when you make the reservation or when you arrive, as this would be a perfect time to let us know of any changes to be made.

Peter will take you to your room, and give you a key which operates both doors.   You will have an inside door giving you access to the house, and an outside door with access to the lakeside decks.   Each room has an individual refrigerator and a microwave (with popcorn).   He will point out our firepit (a great gathering place in the evenings) and the stairs leading down to our dock and the lake.   The canoe, rowboat, paddles, oars and life jackets will be available on the beach.
Each room has a welcoming packet with detailed information on The Pearl, as well as a list of local restaurants, things to do in the area, and local TV stations.   Although our water (from the lake) tastes very good, we have included complimentary bottled water and soda in each refrigerator.

Staying at a bed and breakfast is an experience, but staying at The Pearl of Seneca Lake is a hidden treasure.
