Although a large number of our guests visit the wineries and breweries, there are many opportunities for those not interested in imbibing. One thing that is a must is exploring the glen at Watkins Glen State Park. The Gorge Trail consists of a path with many steps winding its way up the gully past a number of beautiful waterfalls. A shuttle service ($3) is provided for those who would like a ride up or down the glen.
You can also enjoy the lake by renting a motor boat or kayak. The schooner True Love (right) sails three times daily from Watkins Glen Harbor, and can take up to 19 people on each cruise. Captain Bill’s Marina also has an hourly tour describing the many streams flowing into the lake, the nearby salt mines and the colorful history of the lake. In addition to these experiences, you can also go on a fishing excursion and contract for a private sail.
Yet, some of our guests’ favorite water experiences happen right here at The Pearl. They swim, use the canoe and rowboat, and best of all just sit by the lake reading, sunning and sleeping. In the evening, they make a fire in the fire pit, roast marshmallows and enjoy the beauty of the lake. It is so easy to unwind and relax.
Later, we will explore many additional experiences in our first class restaurants and museums.
