This recipe makes a lot of granola (about 28 cups) and so I divide it and place into plastic bags to freeze. Granola is forgiving and the proportions can be altered.  This granola is especially good with yogurt.



Using a large pan, roasting pan or a few cookie sheets, mix together:


10 cups rolled oats

4 cups flaked sweetened coconut

2 cups wheat germ

2 cups sesame seeds

2 cups sunflower seeds

2 cups pecan pieces

2 cups walnut pieces

2 cups almond slices


Combine and heat together over low heat or for a few minutes in the microwave:

            2 cups honey

            2 cups vegetable oil



Pour the honey/oil over the granola and stir.  Spread out on a few pans and Bake at 325 deg. for 1 hour stirring every 15 minutes. 


Allow to cool and add:

            4 cups of dried fruit (cherries, cranberries, raisins, apples etc.)
